Bear with Valentine Scarf
Bear with Valentine Scarf
What a fun, sweet little bear! I think there must be a million ways to use this little guy. Set him on a shelf as part of your Valentine decor. Gift him to your sweetheart or a child. Appreciation gifts for teacher, librarian, school principal, mail carrier, or anyone!
This bear is made with my all one piece basic body form.
Materials used for ears and muzzle:
- Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend Yarn in Whipped Cream (weight: 3)
- 2.75 mm (C) hook
- small safety nose
- polyfill
- yarn needle
Abbreviations:
mr - magic ring
sc - single crochet
inc - increase (2 sc in same stitch)
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
sl st - slip stitch
After completing the all one piece basic body form, move on to the ears.
Ears: Make 2
Rnd 1: 6 sc in mr (6)
Rnd 2: inc x 6 (12)
Rnd 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Rnd 4 - 5: sc 18 (18)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Do not stuff! Flatten and attach through both sc.
Next, the muzzle! You might notice that it's exactly the same pattern as the ears... 😄 The difference is stuffing and how / where it's attached.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in mr (6)
Rnd 2: inc x 6 (12)
Rnd 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Rnd 4 - 5: sc 18 (18)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Attach safety nose between rounds 2 & 3 of the muzzle. Then, begin sewing the top of the muzzle to round 65 of the head evenly spaced between the eyes. When it is halfway attached, begin to stuff the muzzle. Finish attaching.
Scarf
Now for the piece that makes the bear complete... the Valentine scarf! The scarf uses very little yarn, so it's perfect for scrap busting!
Materials:
Any size 3 yarn in any colors can be used, but I used Mira Handcrafts in pink and red
3.5 mm (E) hook
Yarn Needle
Ch. 90
Rnd 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc to the end.
Rnd 2: working down the side: ch 1, sl st all the way to the end and around the other side until you get back to your ch 1 at the beginning. Fasten off.
That's it! Now for the hearts!
Hearts: Make 3 (or as many as you want)
Magic Ring - work the following stitches into the mr: ch 2, 2 dc, 3 sc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, 3 sc, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st into mr and fasten off leaving a long tail for attaching to the scarf.
Attach your hearts to the scarf wherever you think it looks nice. That's it!
I truly hope you enjoyed this Valentine bear. I'm looking forward to next week when I share another free pattern with you! Let me know in the comments what you'd like to see!
He's so cute!!
